Highlights of Each Season – Champions in Action

2016 – Islamabad United

The first season of the PSL resulted in an Islamabad United win and the gaze of the trophy under the leadership of a cool and collected Misbah-ul-Haq. The team had a superb win against Quetta Gladiators in Dubai.  

2017 – Peshawar Zalmi

Sammy Darren wowed their fans by winning against Quetta Gladiators at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, so Peshawar Zalmi had a memorable night. It was the first PSL final held in Pakistan after cricket was played abroad for quite some time.  

2018 – Islamabad United (again!)

This was the third season of the league and United emerged as the champions, or as they are commonly referred to, the underdog did it again, lifting the title for the 2nd time. Their JP Duminy may have been captain during the final, but the performance showcased throughout the tournament proved that the team was in its best form.  

2019 – Quetta Gladiators

After two attempts in the finals, Quetta Gladiators were runners up twice and now were contenders for the first title, leading Sarfaraz Ahmed with much passion to win against Peshawar in what turned out to be an exquisite final.  

2020 – Karachi Kings

The Kings made headlines by winning in its inaugural finals and subsequently claiming their maiden title. Karachi won in the Nationals stadium against the Lahore Qalandars where the captain improvised a control plan strategy against them.  

2021 – Multan Sultans

Unmatched champions! With Mohammad Rizwan in charge, Multan surprises everyone by defeating Peshawar in the final.

2022 & 2023 – Lahore Qalandars’ Back-to-Back Glory

Shaheen Afridi changed memes into within moments turned miracles, as he took the Qalandars to their first and second titles, defeating Multan in both finals and silencing the critics once and for all. 

2024 – Islamabad United

Third time’s the charm for Shadab Khan, as the Islamabad United captain claimed another title, solidifying the franchise’s legacy as the most dominant in PSL history.

Islamabad United hold the record for the most PSL titles (3 wins) 

Qalandars returned with a dominant two wins streak. 

Darren Sammy was one of the few international captains to lift a PSL trophy and became the captain of the winning team.
